MIC (“Fat Burning”) Injections and Their Role in Weight Management
MIC is an acronym for the compounds: L-Methiomine, Inositol and Choline. These are lipotrophic agents which help with the breakdown of fat during metabolism in the body. Many weight loss clinics call them “fat burning” injections.
As part of a successful medically supervised weight loss program, physicians add MIC injections as a therapy to augment a patient’s weight loss experience. Since the Clean Start Weight Loss program releases much fat into the body, lipotropic injections help move fat out of the liver. The addition of B12 complements the MIC injection protocol.
Lipotropic Injections
Lipotropic compounds help with the breakdown of fat during metabolism in the body. It is though they assist in the breakdown of both dietary and blood fats into smaller molecules. This is beneficial since the ultimate goal is to break dietary and blood fats into fatty acids. When this happens, it is more likely that the body will use the fatty acids as an energy fuel rather than store the fats in adipose tissue.
L- Methionine is one of eight essential amino acids that are the building blocks for proteins but which cannot be produced in the body. Aside from injection or ingestion as a supplement, L-Methionine can be found in meats and diary products, as well as spinach, potatoes, Brazil nuts and sesame seeds. L-Methionine is useful in the treatment of liver disease and is a recommended supplement for vegetarians.
For weight management, L- Methionine helps the body process and eliminate fat. It is a required amino acid in the production of cysteine and taurine, which help the body eliminate toxins.
Inositol is a carbohydrate, but is not considered a sugar, and was once considered a member of the vitamin B complex, however, since the body is able to synthesize it, it is not a classic vitamin. It is also found predominantly in fruits such as cantaloupe and oranges, as well as bananas, kidney beans, raisins, and peanuts.
In the management of weight, inositol, when used in combination with other B complex vitamins, helps the liver break down fats in the body, and when used in combination with other compounds in a MIC injection, especially choline, inositol forms lecithin which is known to aid in the metabolism of fat.
Choline is considered an essential nutrient that, while produced in the liver, is generally not produced in sufficient quantities. Like inostiol, it is often grouped within the B complex of vitamins, although it is not a true B vitamin. Choline is required in the regulation of the kidneys, liver and gallbladder.
As part of a weight loss program, choline is essential for fat metabolism, it functions as a methyl donor and it assists detoxification reactions in the liver.
Soybeans along with eggs are two of our best choline-based food sources, as well as beef liver, cauliflower, tofu and almonds.
Interestingly, the components of a MIC injection, especially inositol and choline, have been found to improve mental function, improve feelings of depression, and as part of a successful physician-supervised VLCD weight loss program, MIC injections are typically given weekly for the duration of the program.
These injections are a “guideline only”. Please note that the Keto/IF injections are 4 Bi-weekly (every 2 weeks).
B Vitamins
Eight water-soluble vitamins that play important roles in cell metabolism (B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5, B-6, B-7, B-9, B-12)
Increase rate of metabolism, maintain healthy skin & muscle, enhance immune & nervous system, promote cell growth, increase energy
Vitamin B6 Injections
Vitamin B6 can help with weight loss through a stimulating effect of the thyroid.
When caloric intake is low, your body needs vitamin B6 to help convert stored carbohydrate or other nutrients to glucose.
Pyridoxine hydrochloride
B12 Injections
B12 injections have been found to frequently improve energy levels and water retention.
